Chilli attack woman recovering
PETALING JAYA: The woman who was splashed on her face with what is suspected to be chilli powder and chilli sauce outside her daughter’s school is close to a full recovery.
Jamilah Mohd, 47, who was initially admitted in Universiti Malaya Hospital and later transferred to another hospital in Subang, is expected to discharged today.
However, Jamilah’s husband, Shahreeq Abdullah, 50, a project officer, said his wife was still complaining of some pain in both her eyes.
On Monday, a boy in school uniform and wearing a crash helmet walked towards Jamilah’s car outside a school in USJ 15, Subang, at around 7.30am and splashed some liquid on her face after she had dropped off her eight-year-old daughter.
Jamilah then ran screaming into the school compound, where teachers helped treat her before calling for an ambulance.
Two days before the attack, a man called Jamilah on her handphone and warned her not to stand in the parent-teacher association elections on March 1. Worried for her safety, she lodged a police report at the USJ 8 police station.
“She has no enemies and the only reason I can think of for the attack is because she volunteered to run for president in our daughter’s school PTA,” Shahreeq said.
Shahreeq suspected the culprit to be someone from the school or associated with the school.
“The school has had many problems in the past involving its PTA, to the extent it was dissolved last year.
“When my wife heard they were reintroducing the PTA in the school, she decided to run for president in the hope of creating a better environment for the students,” he said.
“Despite the attack, my wife is still determined to run for the post, although I have been trying to discourage her from doing so.”
Meanwhile, Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Zainal Rashid said police had recorded statements from at least four witnesses, including teachers from the school.
“So far, we have yet to identify a suspect,” he said.
He added that police were also waiting for the results from the lab on the liquid that was splashed on Jamilah.
